Alphotel Ettal offers a charming and cozy retreat in a beautiful alpine setting, We stayed in a ground floor room, which was convenient as we were traveling with a dog. The view was still great, and we had direct access to the hotel's backyard.
The food was good, with generous portions.
Generally, there is enough parking, but during winter peak season, it might become an issue. Despite these minor inconveniences, our stay was enjoyable.
Set in the heart of the picturesque Ettal valley in the Ammergau Alps, this country-style hotel enjoys a peaceful setting and offers views of Ettal Abbey.

Unlike other places where the dogs are allowed, this hotel really welcomes pets. There was a dog bed and towel in our room. And water and food too. We were more than happy with this arrangement. Not only the our dog but also for us, it was an excellent stay. There is a wellness room with 3 different sauna and a very good restaurant. The breakfast was included for the price and had everything you need to start a day. If you travel your puppy highly recommended. We will definitely come back when we will be there next time.
This traditional-style hotel in Garmisch-Partenkirchen offers a natural outdoor pool and a large sauna area overlooking the Zugspitze Mountain. Guests enjoy free Wi-Fi access.

I liked that the staff knew English very well and were friendly. The room was always kept clean. The room has a lock on it which gives me peace that I am in a safe place.
This 4-star hotel in Garmisch-Partenkirchen offers great mountain views, a modern spa, and free breakfast. The shopping area and Kurpark health facilities are a 5-minute walk away.

Very charming stay with quaint wooden interiors. The location is very close to the main station as well as from a walking distance from the city center. The breakfast was really good with several options to choose from. Extremely friendly staff especially the ones present during the day.
This traditional, family-run hotel offers rooms with mountain views and free Wi-Fi internet in the centre of Oberammergau. The main train station is less than 300 metres from the hotel.

Fabulous hotel, great for kids and families. Absolutely beautiful meal at the restaurant with staff that went that extra mile both at reception and in the restaurant. Pool for kids was very good and larger pool and spa also great. Loved that there was an adults only pool and part of the sauna/spa that way as a family, we could use the facilities and not feel like we were detracting from singles or couples experience as they could use the adult facilities.
This accommodation features a minimalistic style with organic materials and is situated in the heart of the Garmisch district, just 800 metres from the Classic ski area.

The whole trip and stay were super great, super love the hotel interior looks nice and minimalistic. Room also quite comfort and quiet. Location is great, 5 to 10 mins to take you into the heart of the city!

The location, the cleanliness and the amazing view from the swimming pool.
Ettals main, and only, attraction is the Abbey. Which is certainly impressive. You'll most likely visit Ettal for the region, as it is a great point to start your hikes and/or visit Oberammergau and Garmisch-Partenkichen. Munchen and Innsbruck are only an hour drive away.

This busy hotel has the feeling of a youth hostel.
This busy hotel has the feeling of a youth hostel. Rooms are simply but practically equipped. There’s a constant coming and going of tourists. Unfortunately,
I couldn’t bring me dog to breakfast. I wasn’t told that outside it is possible.
Breakfast was basic. Scrambled eggs came in squared chunks, thus probably defrozen. Lots of plastic (Marmelade, Butter,…)
The whole personnel is polish. Everyone was very friendly and helpful, I had just expected a Bavarian host.
All in all my stay here felt like holidays off an assembly line.

Beautiful town nestled in the mountains.
Beautiful town nestled in the mountains. The monastery is right at the bottom of the hill from the hotel and it’s conveniently located near Schloss Linderhof and Oberammergau. There were other hotels but we chose this one for the view AND based on the menus at other restaurants this was the best. We took a self tour of the monastery as well as bought beer from their brewery and cheese too. The hotel served the beer from the monastery as well as used it in some of their specialty dishes.

The location is beautiful with the mountains in the background. There is a lot to see in the area. The only unfortunate part was that we were between seasons and many restaurants and stores had limited hours or were closed.

Ettal is a great place for sight seeing and visiting castles etc. The one downside is the location. The weather can change very quickly, a sunny hot day can turn into a very wet and dower one in the blink of an eye. Looking over the valley when it is obscured by clouds and rain can be a bit disheartening. If your looking for wall to wall sunshine then this is not the best choice.

Very wonderful village and the surrounding mountains are stunning. For anything longer then 3 day stay though, a bike is essential to being able to get to the surrounding towns for groceries and such. The attractions in Ettal are far more then one would expect with such a small population, but the business hours on google are not to be trusted as they change with the seasons and holidays.
This is one of the best apartments we have stayed in. Very well designed, equipped, clean, comfortable and spacious. Peta is very friendly and kind. She kept the heater running for us as we didn't expect summer would be this cold for the last few days. The location is off the main road, quiet, next to a nice restaurant, opposite the Ettal monastery and brewery, very close to a nice little bakery which offers good simple breakfast and 15 km away from Zugspitze.
This hotel is lovely! The beds, linens, decor, view (from our room) location, parking....fantastic. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We were there for the Passion Play in nearby village/town and this hotel was perfect. And, they had the most beautiful and healthy houseplants I've ever seen!
I support several vacation rentals in Hawaii and I'm very selective. This is a beautiful property and I would highly recommend staying here.

This hotel is beautiful. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel has a restaurant where we ate breakfast and dinner. The food was excellent and the servers were wonderful and made us feel at home. The hotel is extremely clean, the beds comfortable and our room had a patio with seating outside. Free parking right across the street. There is also a pool, but our schedule didn't allow time to enjoy it. Would definitely stay here again.
Location within walking distance from centre of Ettal (15-20 min). Up to half an hour drive to attractions like Linderhof, Oberammergau, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Zugspitze. Nice rooms with balcony or terrace on the ground. Breakfast was very good, but with basic assortiment. Would reccomend for the price and location. Parking is free of charge. They have also sauna and pool free of charge.
- We had booked a family apartment. It was located at the top floor. The room is accessible via a lift follwed by a flight of stairs.
- The room was very comfortable and the kithchen well equipped. From the balcony, the nearby hills and scenery are visible.
- The breakfast was really good.
- The food at the hotel restaurant was really tasty.
- The staff were nice and helpful.
The location was perfect. Fabulous views over the Ettal valley to the mountains, the Abbey was picture perfect, too.
Restaurant had a huge menu and food beautifully cooked and presented. Breakfast choices varied too.
Staff were great, always exceptional service with a smile.
The location is beautiful and spacious with breath-taking scenery. The hotel is beautiful, with large gardens and a lovely terrace.
The breakfast, included in the room price, is excellent. The restaurant has an excellent and varied menu. The food is really well prepared.
Nice apartment in a great location. Very clean and parking is directly in front of the property. Close to excellent restaurants and cafes and a 4 minute drive to Oberammergau and about 26 minutes to Garmisch. 6 minute drive to the alpine coaster. Great price!
The property is well situated in a quiet road with a magnificent view of the mountains and the possibility of taking your dog for a walk in the woods right next to the hotel. We didn't use the pool/sauna/steam room so I cannot comment on these.
Free parking space. A washing machine and dryer. Good equipped kitchen. Contact with the hosts was only digital, but quick and friendly response. Ettal is a nice village and a good starting point for walking paths.
Very nice hotel crew who are providing first-class service. The hotel very well located, surrounded with a beautiful Bavarian nature. The hotel rooms are excellent.
A really great hotel. Amazing view and garden. Kind and helpful staff. Very good and clean spa. One of the best hotels we've visited (we visited a lot!).
